Do you enjoy walking, and want to challenge yourself and improve your fitness? Are you a runner or former runner who loves participating in races, but the impact of running is no longer comfortable? If so, Sport Walking is for you!
What distinguishes Sport Walking from casual walking and fitness walking is the element of setting challenging athletic performance goals that YOU get to define. Sport Walking is not a specific walking style, or a specific athletic event. It can take many different forms, such as road racing, hiking, endurance walking, racewalking, Nordic walking, and more. No matter what kind of walking you enjoy, you can make it a sport!
Join us for a free instructional session on Saturday, July 22, 2023 from 6:30 am to 8:00 am at the Runners Den.
Maria Peck, Sport Walking Group Leader for the Runner’s Den Fall Training Program, will show you that walking is a great sport for lifelong fitness and athletic participation. In this session, Maria will teach you how to walk efficiently to go fast, get fit, and have fun!
This Clinic is open to everyone, even if you don’t plan to join the Runner's Den Fall Training Program. It’s also a great technique refresher for those returning to the program for the second year! If you are a runner who likes to use a run/walk approach, learning to walk efficiently can improve your race performance.
After the clinic, if you decide you'd like to take the next step and join us for our Runner's Den Fall Training Program, which targets the 48th annual Phoenix 10K on November 12th, a special discounted Training Program discount code will be made available.
